# ABAP Debugging — Brefat Quick Checklist 1. Reproduce the exact issue in a safe **development / test** system. 2. Check user inputs, selection-screen ranges and parameter values. 3. Set a breakpoint immediately before the suspicious statement. 4. Use **F5 (Step Into)** to enter code and **F6 (Step Over)** to skip over calls where appropriate. 5. Inspect internal table content and `sy-subrc` after relevant statements. 6. Set a **watchpoint** to pause when a particular variable or expression changes. 7. Review the call stack to understand how execution reached this point. 8. For runtime errors, inspect **ST22** and correlate the dump with code and input. 9. For SQL performance issues, investigate with your system's SQL trace tools (such as ST05) and follow your team's access policy. 10. Validate the fix with both expected and unexpected cases before transporting. > Shortcut behavior and tool availability can vary by SAP GUI version, ABAP editor and permissions.
